Today world of work has infinite occupational options. Competition is very keen today and choice of vocation is serious problem ahead of students. It is very important to make the students able to earn livelihood by education. Because in the past jobs were few and less specialized. Jobs passed from father to son without any keen competition from outside forces. But different type of jobs needs different type of intelligence, aptitudes, interest and personality traits. A person can get maximum satisfaction, success, adjustment and happiness in his vocation or job if it is according to his vocational interest as well as his intelligence.

Many studies have established that students’ vocational preferences are not vague or random. There are many factors like need, scholastic achievements, socio-economic status, values, intelligences, temperament and other personality characteristics which influence the vocational preference of adolescents. In a very short time it would not be possible for an individual researcher to study the role of all of them in shaping the vocational preferences of an individual. Therefore, the researcher chooses only one factor intelligence, which has been, regarded an important factor influencing the vocational preferences of students.
