EFFECTIVENESS OF ICT BAESD COMPENSATION STRATEGY ON ENGLISH LANGUAGE MOTIVATION OF THE STANDARD IX PUPILS By Nowfal C.[1]

Abstract

ICT as a medium for teaching is becoming more and more significant especially in the field of language learning and teaching. Because ICT supports the modern principles of language acquisition as individualizations, interaction and student motivation, often considered paramount in modern education theories are necessarily a part of the process in ICT. The present study investigates the effectiveness of ICT based compensation strategy on English language motivation of the secondary school students.  Though the technology has revolutionalised all the field of education its utilization in language education is limited to language lab only. The digital pedagogy can be effectively applied to enhance students’ motivation to learn English language. Learning English is considered otherwise as a herculean task by the most of students.  The study employed the experimental method and the pre test-post test non-equivalent groups design was selected. The study made use of lesson transcripts and English language motivation scale as tools. The sample for the study consists of two class room groups of 40 standards IX pupils’ .The study reveals that there is significant difference in the adjusted mean post test scores of English language motivation of experimental and control groups. This indicates that the ICT based compensation strategy is an effective strategy for enhancing the motivation towards English.
