Abstract
The study explored the nature and impact of teacher stress in the private schools. Over the last decade or so there has been mushroom growth of the privately-run English-medium schools almost in Vijayawada city and, hence, a phenomenal increase in the number of teachers serving in these schools. It is therefore, the concern of this project to study the daily stress of private school teachers and to help them encounter and overcome the numerous problems that arise in the school. The normative survey method is applied in the present study. In the present study the following demographic variables are taken to explore the area in detail. 1) Age. 2) Sex. 3) Educational qualifications. 4) Type of media. 5) Experience. Daily Stress Inventory of Jones G.N. and Brantely.P (1978) was used to identify the daily stress among private school teachers. Random samples of 10 schools are drawn from the population of private schools in Vijayawada city (Andhra Pradesh) following the stratified quota sample of 50 private school teachers drawn from 25 male teachers and 25 female teachers.
