Abstract

Emotional intelligence plays a significant role in the academic as well as success in the social life. This study was conducted to ascertain whether there exists difference in the emotional intelligence on the basis of the gender among the adolescents. The results of the study revealed that the mean score on the emotional intelligence Inventory of the boys was 57.44, whereas the mean score on the emotional intelligence inventory of girls was found to be 55.12. The difference in the mean scores of emotional intelligence was determined by applying t- test and was found to be 1.80. This indicate that the there is no significant difference in the emotional intelligence of the adolescents at secondary level. However, significant difference was found in intra- personal awareness dimension of the emotional intelligence inventory scores of boys and girls of senior secondary school at 0.01 level of significance in favor of boys.
