Abstract
Human Rights in India are enshrined in the Constitution of India. Human rights strive for social welfare, thus, they aim for overall development of human beings including the differently abled persons. Human Rights are based on the principle that all persons are born free with equal dignity and respect. The present study was conducted in Fazilka city of Punjab. Descriptive survey method of research had been used in the present research. The methodology adopted in conducting the study included both quantitative and qualitative methods. The investigators had taken 20 differently abled persons as the sample for their investigation. Out of the 20 respondents 16 were males and 4 were females. The sample also included 20 Caretakers and parents. For collection of data the investigators had used Self-prepared Interview Schedule for the differently abled people and Self-prepared Questionnaire for the parents/caretakers of the differently abled people. The main findings of the study are: (i) Those who were educated were fully aware of their rights and provision of the National Acts and International Covenants and Declarations. (ii)The respondents who were employed were mentally relaxed and earned huge respect in the family (iii)The respondents affected with physical and the psychological disability were totally dependent on their families on care takers and were feeling helpless most of the times. (iv) Majority of the respondents faced physical, biological, psychological and social problems while few of them did not face any type of problem.
