Abstract

The study focused on relationship between self concept and Academic Achievement of secondary school students. The study also examined gender differences in self concept and academic achievement. Present study was conducted on 200 adolescent students of class 11th of schools of Jalandhar city. Data was analysed by using independent sample t test and correlation. Results showed that magnitude of self concept among adolescent students was not found to be significantly different among the male and female adolescents. Similar finding was found for the academic achievement in case of gender difference. A significant positive correlation was found between self concept and academic achievement. Implications for school management, teacher and counsellors are being discussed. Keywords: Self Concept, Academic Achievement, Adolescents.
