Abstract

A good family environment has positive effects on student’s lives. Parental involvement and motivation in education have been extensively researched over the years. Motivation is the driving force that prompts a person to act. Engagement is his observable behavior. Motivation is essential for engagement. Both engagement and motivation are interrelated yet distinct. Both of these will be more focused on the learning process than on other activities. Family environment affects education, child welfare, health, mental health, and behavior. The interaction between educational institutions and the family environment improves student standards, attendance, persistence, engagement, and motivation. This article describes how families of all backgrounds and their environments can act to support the growth and success of their children and youth.
